Sunset Custom Meat Processing

Concerning the continuation of the regulation of custom meat processors, and, in connection therewith, implementing the recommendations of the 2017 sunset report of the department of regulatory agencies.

Bill Summary

Custom processing of meat animals - continuation under sunset law - authorized sale of poultry. The act implements the recommendations of the department of regulatory agencies in its sunset review and report on the "Custom Processing of Meat Animals Act" (meat animals act) by:

  • Extending the meat animals act for 5 years; and
  • Authorizing custom meat processors licensed under the meat animals act to sell poultry to retail food establishments.

Temporary Guidelines for Review and Comment Meetings

The legislature will meet in limited session on Monday, March 30th. The Capitol will be open for the duration of the session for those with essential business related to the session. People without essential business are encouraged to access the session through the General Assembly website and Colorado Channel.  Anybody with essential business related to the session will be required to practice appropriate social distancing measures.
