Senator Ginal and Senator Rankin, co-prime sponsors, presented House Bill 22-1035, which restructures and adds two additional members to the Colorado Commission on Aging, appointed by the Governor. In making these changes, it also specifies various criteria for members appointed to the board, establishes initial terms of services for members appointed after the bill's passage, and limits members to serving no more than two consecutive full terms. The commission is authorized to contract independent staff and to seek, accept, and expend gifts, grants, and donations. In addition, the bill establishes a liaison in the Department of Human Services to work with the commission and creates a Technical Advisory Committee composed of representatives from multiple estate agencies to support the commission's work. Finally, the bill creates the Lifelong Colorado Initiative to support policy evaluation, data and metrics creation, and a reporting mechanism.
