Senator Michaelson Jenet, prime sponsor, presented House Bill 24-1374, concerning means of ensuring that independent contractors who perform legal services on behalf of independent judicial agences are eligible for the federal public service loan forgiveness program. 

Ms. Katie Hecker, representing Colorado Office of the Child's Representative, testified in support of the bill.

Ms. Kristin Ladd, representing The Office of Alternate Defense Counsel, testified in support of the bill.

Ms. Catharine Armstrong, representing Office of Alternate Defense Counsel and Office of Respondent Parent Counsel, testified in support of the bill.

Melanie Jordan, representing Office of Respondent Parents' Counsel, testified in support of the bill.

Ms. Sarah Kelley, representing themself, testified in support of the bill.

Committee members asked questions about requirements to qualify for loan forgiveness. Further discussion ensued about incentives for agencies to recruit and retain attorneys.
