Victoria Maloch, Senator Bennett's Office, introduced her presentation on the federal Farm Bill. She gave an update on the status of a current draft in the Senate, the different titles that are included in the Farm Bill, and the timeline for reauthorization. She discussed the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Colorado's payment error rates, animal confinement standards, and federal pesticide preemption. |

Ms. Maloch told the committee about Senator Bennet's priorities for the Farm Bill including, the Western water crisis, forest and watershed health, climate change and clean energy, and local food systems. |

Ashley House, Colorado Farm Bureau, introduced her presentation and gave an overview of the farm economy. She spoke about the drop in crop prices, increase in demand for loans, and the need for a Farm Bill. She discussed from investments that were and were not included in H.R. 1. She told the committee about the lack of inclusion of specialty crops, such as alfalfa, in recent federal relief investments. |

Ms. Maloch and Ms. House responded to questions from the committee regarding farmer costs from wear-and-tear on vehicles from poor road conditions, the likelihood of a five-year Farm Bill passing soon, SNAP, specialty crops, pesticide coregulation, and NRCS program funding.
