The bill requires that youth athletic coaches complete a biennial mental health education course with topics that include suicide prevention, substance abuse prevention, trauma, anxiety disorders and depression, a wellness framework for youth athletes, and a coach’s impact on mental health. The requirement applies to coaches of youth athletic activities sponsored by public and private middle schools, high schools, clubs, leagues, and recreation facilities.
