Senators Amabile and Rich, primary bill sponsors, introduced House Bill 26-1229, which allows the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to award grants through the Colorado’s Health Disparities and Community Grant Program to organizations that support the human-animal bond as a social determinant of health. The bill defines the human-animal bond as the mutually beneficial relationship between a person and a pet animal in the person’s care and custody. A handout was provided to the committee (Attachment T).
