Natalie Castle, Director, Legislative Council Staff, began her presentation on the Legislative Council Staff (LCS) budget request, which can be found as Attachment A. Her slide presentation can be found as Attachment B. She reviewed the LCS FY 2026-27 budget request, which is comprised of $18.8 million total funds and 109.6 FTE. She spoke about LCS FY 2026-27 operating and travel changes and the fiscal impacts of centralizing the office phone services. She answered questions from the committee.

Director Castle explained savings from annualizing prior year legislation, and provided a summary of all the changes in the LCS General Fund request over prior year appropriations. She spoke about a bill coming forward that suspends the same interim committees that were suspended in the 2025 interim and repeals the Legislative Emergency Preparedness Response and Recovery committee and Statewide Health Care Review Committee.
