Senators Rich
and Roberts, co-prime sponsors, presented Senate Bill 26-037, concerning
allowing local elected judicial officers to set weekend bonds. The bill
sponsors distributed and explained Amendment L.001 (Attachment G) to line
up bond hearings with public defender schedules.
Mr. Dan Rubinstein,
representing the 21st Judicial District Attorney's Office, testified in
support of the bill. Mr. James Karbach, representing the Colorado State
Public Defender, testified to amend the bill. Amy Nichols, representing
the County Sheriffs of Colorado, testified in support of the bill.
