Section 2-2-307, C.R.S., governs the salaries of the members of the General Assembly. Members of the General Assembly receive the same salary each year of their term, unless an exception is made in statute. Member salaries are adjusted at the beginning of each term to equal 25 percent of a county judge's salary during the first year of the term. Senators serve four-year terms, while members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms. In 2020, House Bill 20-1423 froze the salary for legislators elected in 2020 at the level paid to those last elected in 2018 for calendar year 2021 only. The table below summarizes member salaries for calendar years 2021 and 2022 based on current law, including the changes under House Bill 20-1423.

In calendar year 2022, all members of the General Assembly whose terms commence on the first day of the legislative session beginning in January of 2021 shall receive $41,449 annually. All members whose terms commence prior to January 2021 shall receive $40,242 annually. State law requires salaries to be paid in twelve equal monthly amounts.
