Scheduled Tours

Public Tours 

We are pleased to announce that we are again offering free guided tours of the Capitol, beginning June 16, 2021. 

MASKS AND PHYSICAL DISTANCING ARE REQUIRED WHILE ON TOUR.

Capitol tours take about an hour and include a trip to the dome observation area.  The dome is a 99 step climb above the 3rd floor and is accessible by stairs only.  If you are not able to make the climb, we offer a video presentation of the dome on the third floor.  (Self-guided tours of the dome are not permitted.)

The Capitol is open Monday-Friday, 7:30-5:00.  Daily tours are available Monday-Friday at 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 2:00pm.  Capitol tours are limited to 15 people, first come first serve.

Capitol Group Tours
Attic/Dome Tour

Mr. Brown's Attic is an exhibit area located between the third floor and the dome. It is devoted to Colorado's early history, capitol construction, legislative process, and has a children's interactive space. The dome walk is a 99-step climb to the observation area where there is a 360 degree view of downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains. A closed-captioned video tour (near third floor elevators) is available for visitors who are unable or do not wish to make the climb.

Tours are available year round.

Historical Tour

This is a guided walk through the Capitol.  Information regarding early Capitol construction, stained glass artwork, Women's Gold Tapestry, presidential portraits, Colorado’s lawmaking process, and much more is offered. 

Tours are available year round.

Legislative Tour

This legislative orientation for students may include a visit to the House and Senate Galleries and a possible meeting with a lawmaker. 

Tours are available January - May.

Student and adult group tours are very popular and space is limited.  Tours will fill.  Reservations for group tours can be made one calendar year in advance.  All group tours require an advance reservation.

Fall 2021 update - Field trip participants, staff, and volunteers are required to wear masks if they are ages 2 and older when visiting the Capitol. This includes students, teachers, chaperones, and accompanying children. 

Masks and physical distancing are required while on tour.

Interim tours available:

Historical, Mr.Brown's Attic Museum and dome rotations (120 minutes in duration) available mid-May to mid-January.

Legislative Session Tours:

Historical, legislative, Mr.Brown's Attic Museum and dome rotations (150 minutes in duration) available mid-January to mid-May.
