Metropolitan District Fire Protection Sales Tax

Concerning the authority of a metropolitan district to levy a sales tax for the purpose of providing fire protection in the areas of the district in which the tax is levied.

Bill Summary

Metropolitan district - fire protection - sales tax. A metropolitan district is authorized to levy a property tax to provide services; however, the district can also levy a sales tax for safety protection, street improvement, and transportation purposes. The act allows a metropolitan district to also levy a sales tax to provide fire protection in the areas of the district in which the sales tax is levied.

Temporary Guidelines for Review and Comment Meetings

The House will meet in limited session on Thursday, April 2nd. The Senate adjourned. The Capitol will be open for the duration of the session for those with essential business related to the session.
