Representatives Lundeen and Foote, prime sponsors, presented House Bill 17-1040, concerning authorizing the interception of communication relating to a crime of human trafficking. Representative Lundeen provided background on the issue of human trafficking. Representative Foote explained why wiretapping is a useful tool in combatting human trafficking. Discussion ensued regarding the involvement of local law enforcement in policing human trafficking, and projected trends in human trafficking investigations if the bill were to pass.
