02:09 PM -- Updates on Capitol Projects



Lance Shepherd, Capitol Complex in the Department of Personnel and Administration (DPA), spoke on the projects occurring in the Capitol and on the grounds: the next phase of the House and Senate chamber restorations; the abatement of asbestos and the replacement of the roof tiles; the relocation of the roof lights and security cameras; and the restoration of the third floor Senate committee rooms. He also discussed the Capitol stone and window project and said that the first phase will start in May.



Mr. Shepherd also presented on unfunded, proposed projects: the repavement of the Capitol parking circle; the restoration of the House committee rooms in the Capitol basement; the restoration of the Governor's office suite; the restoration of the the old supreme court chamber; the replacement of the tour desk on the first floor; the removal of the public coat storage space; the relocation of the Colorado Channel; and the ongoing plumbing and electrical maintenance.



Representative Moreno asked questions regarding the gallery seating in the House and Senate chambers.



Mr. Turner asked questions regarding the cleaning of the Capitol stone and facade. Mr. Shepherd discussed the phases for the cleaning project. Mr. Turner asked questions regarding the funding of capital maintenance projects.
