01:33:24 PM |
Representative Snyder,
bill co-prime sponsor, introduced House Bill 24-1033. Under current law,
local emergency management agencies must maintain an emergency management
plan with provisions for the preparation, prevention, mitigation, response,
and recovery from emergencies and disasters. For any plan amended or created
on or after July 1, 2024, this bill strongly encourages agencies to address
the needs of individuals with animals during an emergency, and include
provisions for the evacuation, shelter, and transport of individuals with
an animal. Beginning January 2025, cities and counties are also strongly
encouraged to make information for animal emergency preparedness available
to the public.
