Senator Gonzales, bill sponsor, presented Senate Bill 22-204, concerning repealing the requirement that the federal government confirm certain persons' statuses before issuance of an identification document, and, in connection therewith, making an appropriation.

Ms. Joy Athanasiou, representing self, testified in support of the bill.  She explained that the bill eliminates a redundant verification step that will save the Department of Motor Vehicles money. 

Committee members asked questions about the fiscal note and the time involved to verify identification documents.
