Senator Hill, chair, welcomed the committee members to the meeting. The appointee and reappointees to the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (commission) came to the table. Copies of their applications and resumes and the Governor's appointment letter were distributed to the committee (Attachment A). Monte Moses, reappointee to the commission, introduced himself to the committee and talked about his background. Maia Babbs told the committee about her personal, educational, and professional background. Jeannette Garcia spoke about her background and past experience serving on the commission. The appointees answered questions from the committee.

The committee came back to order. Senator Todd, sponsor, introduced Senate Bill 16-079 which concerns increasing the alignment of postsecondary and workforce readiness initiatives at the secondary education level with postsecondary career and technical education.
The following people testified on the bill:

02:07 PM -- Cory Notestine, representing the Colorado School Counselor Association, spoke in support of the bill. Mr. Notestine answered questions from the committee.
02:15 PM -- Michael Gifford, representing the Associated General Contractors of Colorado, spoke in support of the bill.
