Senator Hill asked the appointees and reappointee to the Charter School Institute (CSI) Board to come to the table.  Copies of the Governor's appointment letter can be found as Attachment B.  Terry Croy Lewis, Executive Director of CSI, introduced the members and provided background information about CSI.

Elizabeth Aybar Conti introduced herself and spoke about her professional and educational background and about why she would like to be reappointed to the board.  Kristine Pollard introduced herself and spoke about her background and about why she would like to be appointed to the board.  Eric Lerum introduced himself and spoke about his background and why he would like to be a member of the board.  They answered questions from the committee.

The appointees and reappointee continued to answer questions from the committee.

Senators Zenzinger and Scott, co-sponsors, presented House Bill 18-1193 which concerns the advanced placement incentives pilot program.  The co-sponsors answered questions from the committee.

Michelle Murphy, Executive Director of the Colorado Rural Schools Alliance, spoke in support of the bill.  She stated that she was also testifying in support on behalf of the Colorado Association of School Executives and the Colorado Assocation of School Boards.

Leslie Colwell, representing the Colorado Children's Campaign, spoke in support of the bill.

Jesus Mendoza, representing himself as a student, spoke in support of the bill.

The preceding three witnesses answered questions from the committee.

There were no more witnesses so Senator Hill closed public testimony. The co-sponsors gave closing comments to the bill.

Senator Zenzinger presented Senate Bill 18-159 which concerns permitting a public school to include operation as a community school in its innovation plan.  The bill was on the table for action only.
