Senator Hill asked Dene Kay Thomas, President
of Fort Lewis College, to come to the table to introduce the appointee
to the Board of Trustees, Ellen Roberts. Copies of the Governor's
appointment letter were distributed to the committee [Attachment A]. President
Thomas spoke about the college. Former Senator Roberts spoke about
her professional background and about why she would like to serve on the
board. Senator Roberts answered questions from the committee.

Senator Hill invited the presenters from
the Colorado Homebuilding Academy to come to the table to begin their presentation.
Amy Schwartz from Build Strong Education spoke about the history
of the program. Michael Smith, Director of the Colorado Homebuilding
Academy, spoke about the academy's programs. He discussed the need
for removing barriers and creating pathways to the construction industry.
The presenters distributed a handout to the committee [Attachment B]. Mr.
Smith introduced a student from the academy, Jesus Martinez, who spoke
about what he's learned at the academy and how it has been helpful and
impactful.
