The committee was called to order. Senator Donovan, prime sponsor, presented Senate Bill 17-022, which requires the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) to coordinate the provision of monetary and nonmonetary resources to rural communities that are impacted by a significant economic event, such as a plant closure or layoff, which has a significant, quantifiable impact on the total number of jobs in the rural community, as determined by the DOLA's executive director. Committee members received letters of support from the Delta County Board of Commissioners and the Pitkin County Board of Commissioners (Attachment A).
