David Blackburn, Superintendent of Salida School District, came to the table to provide an update on the school district. He discussed several of the district's successful programs and projects. Mr. Blackburn answered questions from the committee and discussed problems with teacher recruitment and retention in rural Colorado.

Senators Todd and Priola, co-sponsors, presented Senate Bill 18-177 which concerns procedures when certain private schools cease operations. The co-sponsors provided opening comments about the bill.
