Senator Hill, chair, called the meeting to order. Senator Todd, sponsor, presented Senate Bill 16-104 which concerns incentives to become a teacher in rural school districts in Colorado. She distributed a copy of amendment L.001 (Attachment A). Senator Todd spoke about the importance of getting quality teachers in rural school districts. Senator Sonnenberg joined Senator Todd at the table to express his support for the bill. The sponsors answered questions from the committee.

10:42 AM -- Kendra Anderson, Superintendent of Otis School District R-3, testified in support of the bill. Ms. Anderson answered questions from the committee.
10:49 AM -- Brian Christensen, Superintendent of Akron School District, testified in support of the bill.
10:52 AM -- Robert Mitchell, Academic Policy Officer for Educator Preparation at the Colorado Department of Higher Education, testified in support of the bill.
