Senator Jones and Senator Merrifield, Co-Prime Sponsors, described the provisions of Senate Joint Memorial 17-001 concerning federal funding for wild fires. This memorial, recommended by the Interim Wildfire Matters Review Committee, asks Congress to fund the costs for catastrophic wildfire response outside the normal budgets for federal forest management agencies.

Senator Sonnenberg, Prime Sponsor, described the provisions of Senate Bill 17-026 concerning state statutes related to the State Engineer and the Division of Water Resources in the Department of Natural Resources. This bill, recommended by the interim Water Resources Review Committee, updates statutes related to the State Engineer and the division by removing obsolete provisions and modernizing language.
