Senator Gonzales called the meeting to order. She noted that since the last committee meeting, the committee had received a response to the committee's request for information from the State Court Administrator's Office (SCA) (Attachments A and B). Mr. Bob Lackner, Office of Legislative Legal Services, responded to question from the committee regarding the SCA's response to the committee's request for information, and how the SCA tracks queries to the office from legislators.

Senator Lundeen commented on the statement of former State Court Administrator Jerry Maroney, provided as part of Senator Gardner's response, regarding requests for information from legislators. Committee members commented on the process of interacting with the State Court Administrator's Office.

The committee discussed the complaint and answer. Senator Winter commented on the nature of Colorado's citizen legislature. Senator Hansen discussed his view of the complaint. Senators Cooke and Lundeen also commented. Senator Gonzales commented specifically regarding count 4 of the complaint.

Ms. Jennifer Berman, Office of Legislative Legal Services (OLLS), offered to prepare a draft letter to the Senate President, signed by the members of the committee, reviewing the process and the decision the committee made, and the committee agreed that OLLS should draft such a letter.
