SB19-018 - Amended, referred to the Committee of the Whole

Representative McLachlan and Representative Saine introduced Senate Bill 19-018 concerning the age requirement to drive a commercial vehicle in interstate commerce. The bill provides for licensing commercial drivers who are at least 18 years old, but under 21.

Jay Hicks, representing the Colorado Motor Carriers Association and Western States Transportation Alliance, testified in support of the bill. The witness responded to questions from the committee about the difference between the terms "interstate" and "intrastate." There were also questions about other regulations for persons 18 years of age.
