Representative Foote, prime sponsor, presented House Bill 16-1152, concerning the authority of the Department of Corrections to distribute medication. Representative Foote explained the effect of the bill and discussed its need. Representative Foote responded to questions regarding how the Department of Corrections has been able to dispense medication to its pharmacies under current law, and the potential effect of not passing the bill.

Ms. Novotny explained how medications are dispensed within the Department of Corrections, and discussed the efficiencies to be maintained through the passage of the bill. Ms. Novotny responded to questions regarding the personnel structure for dispensing medications within the Department of Corrections, and the types of medications dispensed by the department. Ms. Novotny responded to questions regarding the amount of prescriptions filled by the department.
