and Minority Leader Pugliese, co-prime bill sponsors, presented Senate
Bill 24-193, concerning a requirement that any annexation of lands within
the exterior boundaries of a reservation of a federally recognized Indian
tribe be approved by the tribal council of the Indian tribe. The bill prohibits
a municipality from annexing lands that are within the boundaries of a
reservation or a federally recognized Indian tribe unless the tribal government
issues a resolution or ordinance that approves the annexation of the land
in question. Majority Leader Duran and Minority Leader Pugliese responded
to questions from the committee.
