Senators Court and Tate, co-prime sponsors, explained HB18-1028 concerning clarification of the standard required for applications for a court order to require compliance with investigations of deceptive trade practices. 

Senator Court further explained that the bill cleans up language regarding deceptive trade practices and subpoenas. 

Amendment L.001 was distributed (Attachment A).

Alissa Gardenswartz, representing the Attorney General's Office, testified in support of the bill. She explained that the bill and the amendment clarify the use of subpoenas for investigative purposes in deceptive trade practice cases.  Ms. Gardenswartz answered questions for the committee regarding the number of cases impacted and due process.
