The bill permits a school board candidate to declare a party affiliation at any time up to 67 days before the election.  Any candidate who chooses to declare a party affiliation will have their affiliation printed by their name on the ballot.  To declare a party affiliation, a candidate must be affiliated with the political party as of the first business day in January of the year the election is held.
