The committee came back to order.  Senator Zenzinger and Senator Story, co-sponsors, presented Senate Bill 18-039 which concerns allowing interdistrict transportation of students only by adjacent school districts subject to the school districts' mutual consent.  Senator Zenzinger explained the purpose of the bill.

Brent Owen, representing the Creede School District and the Donnell Kay Foundation, testified in opposition to the bill. Mr. Owen answered questions from the committee.

Fish Abrhaley, representing himself as a parent and as a member of the African Leadership Group, testified in opposition to the bill.

Kyle and Hope Forti, representing themselves as foster parents, testified in opposition to the bill.  They answered questions from the committee.

Matt Samelson, representing the Donnell Kay Foundation, testified in opposition to the bill.  Mr. Samelson answered questions from the committee.

Kathy Gebhardt, representing the Colorado Association of School Boards and the Rural Schools Alliance, testified in support of the bill.  Ms. Gebhardt answered questions from the committee.

Wendy Rubin, Superintendent of Englewood Schools, testified in support of the bill.

Brian Ewert, Superintendent of Littleton Public Schools, testified in support of the bill.

The previous two witnesses answered questions from the committee.
