BILL SUMMARY For SB18-130

SENATE COMMITTEE ON HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES
Date Feb 14, 2018
Location SCR 354

SB18-130 - Referred to the Committee of the Whole

10:43:54 AM

Senator Smallwood, bill sponsor, presented Senate Bill 18-130.  Under current law, health insurance carriers are required to report data annually on reimbursement rates paid for inpatient hospital care to the Division of Insurance in the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).  The Division of Insurance must then post this data in a user-friendly format on its website.  This bill repeals these requirements on health insurance carriers and the division.

10:47:21 AM

Michael Conway, Interim Insurance Commissioner, responded to questions from the committee. Committee questions and discussion followed.

10:54:37 AM

Amber Burkhart, Colorado Hospital Association, testified against the bill.  Ms. Burkhart responded to questions.

11:03:01 AM

Senator Smallwood responded to questions and made closing comments.
