Jack Johnson, task
force chair, discussed task force and subcommittee policies and practices.
He made suggestions about policies that would benefit from Legislative
Oversight Committee guidance. He first discussed subcommittee voting thresholds
used to forward an idea to the full task force. He asked for clarity from
the Legislative Oversight Committee in an effort to more easily generate
and advance ideas.
He next discussed stakeholder engagement in subcommittee work. He
proceeded to recommend ideas for the task force to study in the upcoming
year including competency to proceed and diversion and co-responder programs,
among others.
Committee members
asked questions about recent bill drafts from the Legislative Oversight
Committee that already address competency and diversion. Mr. Johnson
responded that more work needs to be done on these topics.
