Senator Coram, sponsor, explained SB18-166 concerning changing the maximum jail sentence for certain crimes from one year to three hundred sixty-four days. 

 

He distributed Amendment L.003 (Attachment C).

Jeremy Schupback, representing the Colorado Bar Association, spoke in favor of the bill.  He explained that it is a common sense measure that will reduce jail over-crowding.  

The committee took a brief recess.

Senator Gardner announced that Senator Aguilar is to replace Senator Kagan for the remainder of the meeting.
