BILL SUMMARY For SB21-122

HOUSE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC & BEHAVIORAL HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES
Date Mar 30, 2021
Location HCR 0112

SB21-122 - Referred to the Committee of the Whole

02:10:08 PM

Representative Froelich, bill sponsor, introduced SB21-122. Current law allows certain entities to purchase opiate antagonists through the Opiate Antagonist Bulk Purchase Fund, and allows other entities to receive opiate antagonists pursuant to standing orders and protocols.  The bill aligns eligibility so all of these entities are eligible for both the bulk purchase fund and for standing orders.  It also allows the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to prioritize purchases from the bulk purchase fund based on need and availability of opiate antagonists.  Lastly, the bill clarifies that local governments have immunity when administering an opiate antagonist.
