Representative Williams, prime sponsor, introduced House Bill 22-1080 concerning automated vehicle identification systems for traffic law enforcement. The bill provides that if a local government is not already using an automated vehicle system the matter must be submitted to voters as a ballot question. Also, the bill provides that funds related to penalties assessed from use of a system must be paid to specific nonprofit entities. The bill also provides that revenue from toll systems after the bill passes must be used for traffic safety or transportation-related projects.
