The committee came to order and an agenda was distributed (Attachment A).

Scott Hutchings, Director of Government
Affairs for Waste Management, presented on the local and global challenges
for his company and provided a handout to the committee (Attachment B).
 This presentation focused on global challenges of recycling, including
sending recyclables to China, people putting the wrong materials into recycling
bins, and the contamination of recyclables.

Mr. Hutchings responded to questions from the committee about radioactive waste, recycling grades of plastic, and recycling asphalt shingles into road materials.
