and Bockenfeld, prime sponsors, presented House Bill 22-1228, concerning
the continuation of the regulation of preneed funeral contracts, and, in
connection therewith, implementing the recommendations contained in the
2021 sunset report by the department of regulatory agencies.



Representative Roberts responded to questions regarding marketing by preneed
funeral contract sellers.  Discussion ensued regarding the difference
between preneed funeral contracts and preneed insurance policies.

Jason Hopfer, representing Service Corporation International, testified on HB 22-1228 from an "amend" perspective. Mr. Hopfer responded to questions regarding forthcoming amendment L.002 (Attachment B), and the potential for preneed funeral contracts to become unclaimed property.
