Statutory Revision Committee

The Statutory Revision Committee makes an ongoing examination of the statutes of the state and current judicial decisions for the purpose of discovering defects and anachronisms in the law and recommending needed reforms.

Legislative Audit Committee

The Legislative Audit Committee (LAC) is a permanent standing committee comprised of four senators and four representatives with equal representation from the two major political parties. The Committee is responsible for reviewing and releasing audit reports and recommending special studies. The LAC also recommends an appointment for State Auditor to the leadership of the General Assembly every five years. The meeting minutes can be found on the Office of the State Auditor's website.

Legislative Council

The Legislative Council is the legislative oversight committee for the Legislative Council Staff, and is responsible for approving the Legislative Council Staff budget, approving written requests for interim study committees, reviewing legislation created by committees that meet during the legislative interim, and reviewing the ballot information booklet prepared by Legislative Council Staff.

Capitol Building Advisory Committee

The Capitol Building Advisory Committee is comprised of legislative and non-legislative members and is charged with reviewing and advising for the protection of the Capitol building's historic character, including its art, memorials, furniture, and architectural fixtures.

Transportation, Housing & Local Government

The House Transportation & Local Government Comittee considers matters concerning motor vehicle law, traffic regulation, transportation funding, public infrastructure, other subject areas related to the state transportation system, local governments, special districts, housing, and land use planning.  In addition, the committee has legislative oversight responsibility for the Department of Transportation and the Department of Local Affairs.

Agriculture, Water & Natural Resources

The House Agriculture, Livestock, & Water Committee generally considers matters concerning water, agriculture, wildlife, and recreation.  In addition, the committee has legislative oversight responsibility for the departments of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Health & Human Services

The House Health and Human Services Committee considers matters concerning state health and welfare programs, health insurance, social services, and environmental health. The committee also has legislative oversight responsibility for the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, the Department of Human Services, and the Department of Public Health and Environment.

Finance

The House Finance Committee generally considers matters related to a broad range of public finance proposals including legislation that affects the state's revenue and tax structure.  In addition, the committee has legislative oversight responsibility for the Public Employees' Retirement Association, Department of Revenue, State Treasury, and the Office of State Planning and Budgeting.

The House Education Committee considers matters concerning K-12 public schools, including public school accountability and school finance; and higher education, including administration and governance, tuition, and financial assistance.  In addition, the committee has legislative oversight responsibility for the departments of Education and Higher Education.

Business Affairs & Labor

The House Committee on Business Affairs & Labor considers matters concerning the regulation of professions and occupations, property and casualty insurance, unemployment insurance, health insurance, workers' compensation insurance, economic development, banks and financial institutions, real estate, labor, and technology.

State, Civic, Military, & Veterans Affairs

The House State, Civic, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee generally considers matters concerning elections, campaign finance, military and veterans affairs, and other subject areas related to state government.  In addition, the committee has legislative oversight responsibility for the departments of State and Military and Veterans Affairs.

Energy & Environment

The House Energy & Environment Committee generally considers matters concerning energy and environment.  In addition, the committee also has legislative oversight responsibility for divisions of the Department of Natural Resources and Department of Public Health and Environment, the Public Utilities Commission, and the Colorado Energy Office.
