Senator Fenberg, prime sponsor, presented House Bill 17-1081, which allows but does not require a state-supported institution of higher education to charge the resident tuition rate to an Olympic athlete residing anywhere in the state, and training in programs approved by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the governing body of an Olympic, Paralympic, Pan American, or Parapan American sport. Under current law, only Olympic athletes training at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs may receive the reduced, resident tuition rate.
