Senators Neville and Jahn, co-prime sponsors, presented House Bill 17-1216, which creates a sales and use tax simplification task force. The task force is required to meet at least eight times between FY 2017-18 and FY 2019-20 in order to study the necessary components of a simplified sales and use tax system for both the state and local governments. It is required to consider the feasibility of potential changes to administration of state and local sales and use taxes and to make annual reports to the Legislative Council in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The task force is scheduled to sunset effective July 1, 2020. The task force consists of 15 members.
