Senator Priola, prime sponsor, presented House Bill 17-1104, which provides a state income tax deduction for monetary awards received from the United States Olympic Committee or any sport-specific national governing committee as a direct result of winning a medal at the summer or winter Olympics or Paralympic games. Non-monetary benefits and endorsement earnings are not eligible for the income tax deduction. The income tax deduction will be available beginning in tax year 2018.
