09:32 AM -- 3c. Repeal posting requirements

Ms. Meyer introduced LLS 17-0264, which was authorized in the October meeting and concerns removing an obsolete provision related to uncashed checks and warrants. She explained that current law requires that, on an annual basis, the state treasurer and state controller physically post a list of the checks and warrants that remain uncashed during the prior fiscal year—and that this provision that is fairly obsolete and impractical. Because those entities have developed more modern practices to comply with this provision, the bill draft strikes the physical posting requirement and also the designation that the moneys reflected in those uncashed checks and warrants should be treated as unclaimed property, with the exception of the wildlife cash fund money.
