Senator Steadman moved that LLS 17-0261 be introdu PASS

09:24 AM -- 3b. ANSI

Ms. Meyer introduced the bill draft of LLS 17-0261, which was authorized in the October meeting and amends statutory references to national standards concerning accessible housing that are promulgated by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). She explained that the suggested changes were brought by the Office of the State Architect, headed by former Representative Gerou and State Auditor Dianne Ray, who worked with Ms. Meyer to draft the bill.

09:29 AM --

Jennifer Gilroy, Revisor of Statutes, then testified that after the ANSI issued was raised in the October meeting, she began looking into the ANSI standards for publication of the Colorado Revised Statutes, which she oversees, or more specifically, those standards that specify the type of paper used to ensure the publication of the statues meets certain archival standards. She is adding that change to the 2017 Revisor's Bill. However, she explained that after researching the other ANSI standards referred to throughout the statutes, she doesn't believe that any changes other than those that affect publications are within her purview—as that could be seen as dictating an updated standard to another department or agency, as updating the standard language may be more substantive than it first appears.
