Representative Singer discussed the schedule for the meeting and an agenda was distributed to the committee (Attachment A).  Copies of bills and fiscal notes were also distributed to the committee (Attachment B).

Moses Gur, MHDCJS Task Force Chair, and Landon Gates, Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance, described recent conversations regarding the committee's bills and victim's concerns.

Tariq Sheikh, MHDCJS Task Force, testified regarding the bill language.  Amanda Gall, Colorado District Attorneys' Council, testified regarding the status of the bills and amendments.  Mr. Gates, Mr. Sheikh, and Ms. Gall responded to committee questions regarding Bill #4 and Bill #3.

Jane Ritter, Office of Legislative Legal Services, came to the table to discuss the amendments to the bills.  The amendments were distributed to committee members (Attachments C to M).

Ms. Ritter described an amendments that is the same for each bill.  Representative Singer discussed procedures related to voting on bills and amendments.  Committee discussion ensued regarding the amendments.

Laurie Kepros, Office of the State Public Defender, came to the table to respond to questions on Bill #1.  Ms. Ritter responded to committee questions on amendments to Bill #1.  Committee discuss ensued about the merits of the bill.

Ms. Kepros and Mr. Sheikh responded to committee questions on Bill #1 regarding access to the juvenile sex offender registry.  Ms. Ritter responded to questions on bill language.

Ms. Kepros continued to respond to committee questions regarding the connection between the charge of the task force and the committee's bills.
