Recommendations for the Workplace Harassment Policy of the General Assembly - Committee Discussion Only

Ben FitzSimons, Legislative Human Resources Administrator, presented recommendations for the Workplace Harassment Policy of the General Assembly. He referenced a revised draft of the Workplace Harassment Policy of the General Assembly [Attachment A]. He stated that adoption of the changes to policy does not require changes to Joint Rule 38 or statute.

Mr. FitzSimons answered questions from the committee. He further explained the draft recommendations. He stated on page 3 a definition of professionalism had been added. He discussed the language change about respect and professionalism on pages 6 and 7. Mr. FitzSimons outlined the informal resolution process outlined in the draft recommendations starting on page 7. He continued explaining the changes to the draft recommendations about retaliation. Mr. FitzSimons outlined the changes to the policies concerning the recordkeeping of complaints starting on page 11. He highligted changes to the policy regarding the timelines for the resolution process.
