Ms. Anderson discussed the need to have a plan for preserving and maintaining the historic character of the Capitol building grounds. She also discussed the Civic Center National Historic Landmark designation.



Mr. Turner discussed the importance of a cultural landscape plan for the Capitol grounds to provide guidance for committee actions regarding memorials and landscape changes. He discussed the State Historical Fund Grants as a resource for a cultural landscape study and report.



Mr. Halaas discussed the time needed to complete a report and asked if no additional projects and memorials could be accepted until the plan is adopted. Mr. Turner said that committee business should continue as usual until the final report is adopted.



Ms. Anderson discussed the process for developing similar reports. Mr. Turner discussed the Denver Civic Center Park cultural landscape study.



Julia Jackson, Legislative Council Staff, discussed the current status of the Gold Fund.



Mr. Turner discussed the cash match requirements for a State Historic Grant Fund.



Mr. McNulty discussed the need for a cultural landscape plan and said that a better scope of funding is needed before moving forward. Ms. Anderson said that she would work with staff to determine a scope of the project and provide funding options.
