Senator Gonzales, bill sponsor,  presented House Bill 23-1155, concerning the advisement of rights during a custodial investigation.  The bill requires that for a statement made during a custodial interrogation to be admissable against the accused defendant in a criminal proceeding, the accused defendant must be advised of specified rights prior to making the statement. 

Mr James Karbach, representing Office of the Colorado State Public Defender, testified in support of the bill.

Committee members discussed codifying Miranda rights in statutes.
