Majority Leader Duran,
Chair, called the meeting to order and reviewed the meeting agenda (Attachment
A). A packet of the following bill drafts and associated fiscal notes were
distributed to the committee:
- Bill Draft 1, addressing the American Indian Affairs Interim Committee
(Attachments B and C);
- Bill Draft 2,
addressing federally recognized Tribes and the construction of laws (Attachments
D and E);
- Bill Draft 3,
addressing protecting wild bison (Attachments F and G);
- Bill Draft 4,
addressing cultural competency continuing education requirements (Attachment
H and I); and
- Bill Draft 5,
addressing the recognition of tribal court orders (Attachment J and K).
- Bill Draft 6,
addressing the comprehensive history of Tribal Nations to be taught in
public schools, was withdrawn prior to finalization and not considered
for futher action by the committee.
