Senator Rodriguez, co-prime sponsor, explained Senate Bill 20-042, concerning the reauthorization of the Legislative Oversight Committee Concerning the Treatment of Persons with Behavioral Health Disorders in the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Systems.  Senator Rodriguez provided an overview of the oversight committee and associated task force. 

Gina Shimeall, representing the MHDCJS Task Force, spoke in favor of the bill.  She listed the task force's accomplishments and distributed a handout (Attachment E). 

Atilla Denes, representing the MHDCJS Task Force, testified in support of the bill.  He discussed the task force and its work on law enforcement issues.

Tim Lane, representing the MHDCJS Task Force, spoke in favor of the bill.  He discussed the various topics studied by the task force.

 

Lauren Snyder, representing Mental Health Colorado, spoke in favor of the bill.  She suggested a variation and rotation in task force membership.

 

Senator Rodriguez presented Amendment L. 001, which eliminates attendance requirements  of Oversight Committee members at Task Force meetings (Attachment F).
