Appropriations

The House Appropriations Committee conducts hearings on bills that change expenditures or revenues and affect the budget. The Committee typically reserves discussion for the fiscal impact of the bills. Many of the bills considered by the Committee have had hearings in other committees before being referred to Appropriations and for those bills that have previously had a hearing the Committee does not customarily take public testimony.

Public & Behavioral Health & Human Services

The House Public & Behavioral Health & Human Services Committee considers matters concerning state health care programs and social services.  The committee also has legislative oversight responsibility for the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing and the Department of Human Services.

Judiciary

The House Judiciary Committee considers matters concerning courts and judges, civil liberties, Colorado's constitution, revision of the Colorado Revised Statutes, the correctional system and prison facilities, juvenile justice, and homeland security.  The committee also has legislative oversight responsibility for the Department of Corrections, the Department of Law, the Department of Public Safety, and the Judicial Branch.

Health & Insurance

The House Health & Insurance Committee considers matters concerning state health programs and health insurance.  The committee also has legislative oversight responsibility for the Department of Public Health and Environment, Health Benefit Exchange, Division of Insurance, and Division of Professions and Occupations relating to health care providers.

Transportation, Housing & Local Government

The House Transportation & Local Government Comittee considers matters concerning motor vehicle law, traffic regulation, transportation funding, public infrastructure, other subject areas related to the state transportation system, local governments, special districts, housing, and land use planning.  In addition, the committee has legislative oversight responsibility for the Department of Transportation and the Department of Local Affairs.
