Local Control Approvals Oil And Gas Applications

Concerning a requirement that the state approve an oil and gas permit to drill that has been approved by a local government.

Bill Summary

Current law allows the director of the oil and gas conservation commission to delay the final determination regarding an oil and gas permit application pursuant to specified objective criteria. The bill repeals this authority and specifies that if a local government that has so-called "House Bill 1041 authority" approves an oil and gas application, the commission or director shall approve the application for a permit to drill.

Temporary Guidelines for Review and Comment Meetings

The legislature will meet in limited session on Monday, March 30th. The Capitol will be open for the duration of the session for those with essential business related to the session. The building will not be available for public tours. People without essential business are encouraged to access the session through the General Assembly website and Colorado Channel.  Anybody with essential business related to the session will be required to practice appropriate social distancing measures.
